APC USING BUHARI FOR SOUTH WEST TO REGAIN POWER – AREWA YOUTHS

Finger Obasanjo, Tinubu in plot
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu, have been accused of fronting Gen. Muhammadu Buhari for the APC presidency to get power back to the South-West after Obasanjo from the same zone had completed his eight-year tenure.
The allegation was made by the Arewa Youth Integrity Forum, which lamented that even though Tinubu and his cronies knew that Buhari is ill and cannot face the rigours of governance, they have insisted on his (Buhari’s) presidency with the intent of returning power to the South-West in the event of the unexpected happening.
The group said it confirmed and believed the claim by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP that Buhari is ill, old and unfit to govern the country.
In a statement issued by its president, Malam Ibrahim Abubakar, he aligned himself to the theory that the fronting of Buhari by Tinubu and Obasanjo is an attempt to tactically return power to the South-West, as Buhari may not be strong enough to run even a four-year presidency.
Abubakar said the recent alliance of Tinubu and Obasanjo is similar to what happened in 2006 when the North was tactically denied the nation’s presidency by imposing on it the late Umaru Musa Yar A’dua who died in office to bequeath the seat to a Southerner.
He said: “We strongly believe this to be another scheme by the Tinubu/Obasanjo alliance which does not like the North, to deny the North of the presidency. It smacks of the same scheme employed by Obasanjo in 2006 when he presented a sick Yar’Adua as the North’s candidate amidst many healthy and vibrant aspirants, knowing full well that the latter’s health condition would not allow him to live through the tenure. We will strongly refuse this tactic in 2015.″
While accusing Tinubu of trying to usurp the presidency, the group raised poser over the person chosen to be the running mate of ailing Buhari, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who it claimed would be the de facto president if the APC wins and allows Tinubu unhindered access to the national treasury.
Abubakar said that the fact that Tinubu receives donations for APC campaigns and logistics had further fuelled its belief that Buhari would only be hanging on the balance with the type of persons the APC leadership had gathered around him.
He therefore called on well-meaning northerners to vote for president Goodluck Jonathan on March 28 so that power would return to the North after four years rather than allow those he described as haters of the region to tactically cause power to evade it for another eight years.
