53 Suitcases: ‘Buhari’s Connection, Emir of Gwandu, Major Jokolo And a Weak Explanation’

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, APC Presidential Candidate and Abubakar Atiku who was Area Comptroller of the Customs Service at the Airport where 53 bags came in and obeyed order from above NOT to open or search the boxes.. Is this CORRUPTION?
“Response by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar  who was then the Area Comptroller of the Customs Service that  the suit cases in question were picked by “rude and crude soldiers who threatened custom officials  who had insisted in
inspecting the suitcase”.

Major Jokolo and Emir of Gwandu and Buhari's half Brother

A group, Movement for Democratic Sustainability (MDS),  has described the response of, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd),  to the allegation of complicity in the importation of currency- laden
suitcases to the country during his tenure as head of state  as  “weak and insufficient.”
The Gooodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation had, in a statement, accused  Buhari  of  being hypocritical on the issue of corruption
alleging that the Presidential candidate  has tainted past.
Buhari had been accused to have  allegedly aided his  ADC Col. Mustapha Jokolo to smuggle the 53 cases belonging to his father Emir
of Gwandu , Alhaji Jokolo  into the country at a time his administration decided to change the colours of  currency notes to
check currency trafficking.
MDS in a statement Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Afam Iheanacho, said what Nigerians want is detailed explanation of what made  Buhari as head of State to  look the other side and allowed the suitcases to enter the country unchecked at a time the currency was being changed.
“We need more convincing explanation from Buhari. It is not enough towave this allegation that has refused to abate with a wave of hand or
just refer to some officials. There is no doubt that the Head of State knew about the suitcases and its content, because of the tight control
Buhari kept on machineries of government.
“Our position was even more reinforced by the response by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar  who was then the Area Comptroller of the Customs Service that  the suit cases in question were picked by “rude and crude soldiers who threatened custom officials  who had insisted in
inspecting the suitcase”.
MDS said the time has come for Buhari to give a full account of “what he knew and what he didn’t  know about the suitcases. “Anything short of that beg the issue and calls to question the extent to which General Buhari can prosecute an anti-corruption campaign
without embarking on selective justice.” Iheanacho added.
