Kaduna State governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has appealed to the Igbos resident in the state not to panic or decide to run away during the general election scheduled to commence on February 14, 2015, assuring them that the government of Kaduna State will do everything necessary to protect lives and properties before, during and after the elections.
Governor Yero made the appeal while addressing a mammoth crowd of Ndigbo in Kaduna State led by Eze Igbo, Igwe Silvanus Aneke and the president general of Igbo Community Welfare Association (ICWA) Chief Chris Nnoli in a town hall meeting in Kaduna at the Top Galazy Hotel, Sabo Tasha.
According to the governor, “I’m happy that you have resolved to stay back during the elections, after all, nobody in Nigeria has the right to deny you your right to exercise what is legally and constitutionally your right.
“This is your state because anytime you go to the East ‘home’ you hardly stay for two weeks and then you return back to Kaduna. So even if you go now it is temporary and then after the elections you will want to come back? Then my question is, won’t you be ashamed of coming back because people will see you as cowards?
“For God sake, this is your country and your state. I urge you to stay and vote anybody of your choice in a peaceful manner but don’t be intimidated,” he said.
