: Reasons Gen. Buhari Can Not Be President Come 2015.. George Ukaon

Emotional Election and Hunger for change was what played a major role in the election of President Jonathan in 2011. People were moved by the slogan – “I had no shoes”.

Fact is that no past leader including president Jonathan can effect change in this country. It takes the fear of God by everybody and a change of heart to effect the needed change. But one fact that is certain is Tinubu and Buhari will lose in 2015 because they are trying to bring back historical paradigms that history has consigned to the dust bin -that of running Nigeria via a selfish NW/SW alliance.

Above philosophy served its purpose in 1967 because the Niger Deltans agreed to be carved out of the Eastern Region and weakened Ojukwu’s flanks. Today, a new necessity stares the country in the face.

The people whose oil serviced that NW/SW alliance have taken up guns against their former alliance masters. Plus they also control political power at the center, thanks to OBJ. Coomassie, Ango and his group of co-travelers do not understand this strategic shift but they soon will.

As long as the Niger Deltans retain physical control of their villages with our oil wells and still keep their guns, they will allow a tenuous peace to reign especially if GEJ is the President presiding over security forces and state power. So 2015 is not the issue. 2019 is the year of decision because Niger Deltans will demand new assurances for their oil, seeing that their son is no longer in control of the centre.

2019 will thus throw up new political configurations, configurations that will defy everything we have known. That is the year we should thus, worry about. So far, every thing we have seen and known politically have been variations of the arrangements that got foisted on Nigeria after Aburi was abandoned by Gowon in 1967 –

The deliberate political and institutional weakening of the old Eastern Nigeria, the cicil war and the emergence of a new Nigeria run politically by northern soldiers and South Western bureaucrats and technocrats to the near exclusion of others, the emergence of the old North as Nigeria’s national bully, the state structure, oil as a federal instead of state/ regional resource, the carving out of riverine Igbos from their kith and kin in East Central and the weakening of Igbo alliance, the emergence of Eastern minorities as a force in national politics, the emergence of Abuja and Lagos as megalopolis that sucked every developmental resource etc.

That whole scenario will give way post 2019…having served its historical purpose. An entirely new paradigm shift will occur. I do not know what that new paradigm will be. But it will be totally different from everything we have known and it will be quite interesting. So 2019 is the year to worry about…and not 2015 folks.

Read What APC Core Supporters Said About General Buhari

The refusal by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, to participate in the proposed presidential debate organised by the Nigeria Electoral Debate Group (NEDG), has been described as not only an act of cowardice to his supporters across the country but an indication of his shallow mindedness about the ideals of statecraft.
According to Comrade Oluwasanmi Solomon of the Arise Africa Youth Coalition, Buhari’s non participation in the debate showed that he was scared to expose his ineptitude and a huge disappointment to his teeming supporters which will lower their morale particularly on the numerous controversies surrounding his academic qualification.
He said, it was only proper that the former Head of State gave the electorates an opportunity to dig into his intellectual capacity which is more important than the face saving public relations being carried out by his image laundering team.
He alleged that it was rather unfortunate that the APC Presidential candidate who has been accused of not possessing the required academic qualification to contest the elections will shy away from the only opportunity to prove his detractors wrong.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Comr. Oluwasanmi who stated that the people were the most important ingredient in a democracy, advised Buhari to go back to his handlers to understudy the tenets of democracy.
“Democracy the world over is anchored on openness and accountability, which is totally different from military government, as such an aspiring leader who cannot confront the masses to outline his blueprint on developing the nation’s economy; respond to questions that will better the lot of the people cannot not be given the mandate to preside over the commonwealth of the nation.”
“It is rather unfortunate that the General is yet to understand how democracy works. This system is about the people, and the peoples’ decision should be paramount. The people have asked for a debate, Buhari should oblige them to show how people-oriented he will be as president”. He said.
The civil rights activist further berated the APC for supporting their candidate in his refusal to participate in the debate. He noted that the change longed for, was one that will carry the people along and not a change that will be anchored on a cabal or person.
While challenging the party, Oluwasanmi called on the APC to prove their popular claim of being a body of intellectuals by coming out to face Jonathan during the debate, saying the debate will not only put paid to Buhari’s certificate saga but also expose his intellectual capability.
