I wouldn't be in this race if I didn't think I could do a better job with respect to the issues that are critical to our future prosperity as a state. And one of such issues is Education.
I grew up in a household where both my parents understood the importance of being properly educated. Although my father was a banker and my mother a school teacher, they both came from humble backgrounds. Through education, they moved up the ladder and succeeded at providing better opportunities for my siblings and I.
"Education is a leveler", my father used to say. "Whether you're poor or rich, an enlightened mind is an empowered individual."
So when the current administration pays lip service to education and expect, in return, to have a world-class workforce who are a fit for the jobs of tomorrow, they miss the point completely.
Watch this video and listen to my take on education in Lagos.
For those undecided voters in Lagos, you might want to watch this two-part video of Jimi Agbaje and Akinwunmi Ambode slugging it out at a debate that was hosted by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday, January 23. This is the second gubernatorial debate between these two candidates and it presented a rather revealing spectacle - to say the least - considering a lot has been said about "experience" or the lack thereof in the course of this election cycle.
Party affiliations aside, and weighing these men solely on the merits of this debate, If you were to choose, who do you think came out tops in this debate? Also, what part of the debate did you find the most intriguing as a potential voter? #LagosDecides
